There goes the neighborhood

After several years of owning the land and many, many hours of planning my family is finally getting ready to build our mountain cabin.  We thought it would be nice to create this blog so that we could track our progress on the project and share it with our friends.

So, to bring you up to date, so far we've selected our architect (Suzanne Allen Guerra) and have worked with her over the last 10 months or so to finalize our plan.  We have also selected our builder (Ian Alexander Construction, Inc.) and are awaiting our building permit from Summit County.

The plan for the house is for a four bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house in Summit County, Colorado just south of the town of Breckenridge.  Here's a view of what the house will look like from the front from the construction drawings :

We're planning to use some interesting materials like galvanized steel that shows up on the drawing as vertical lines.  The rest of the exterior will be some pretty beefy cedar siding (2x12) and accented with some douglas fir timber framing.

We're hoping to get our permit in the next couple of weeks and break ground sometime before August 1, 2011.  Our 'aggressive' timeline has us completing the project in late spring 2012.
