We are anxiously awaiting our Summit County plan review and for our building permit to be issued. We are using all this waiting time to try to make some decisions so that we're not holding anything up after the permit is complete and the project starts. Key decisions that we need to make in the next week or so :
1. Windows - We are probably going to go with windows that are constructed from fiberglass (both the sash & the frame). These are incredibly durable and provide a really low rate of heat / cold transfer. At 11,000 feet this isn't an area that we want to skimp. Our builder likes the Weathershield Endurashield line. We are going to try to meet the Weathershield field rep this week so he can show us some samples and we can decide if we like these. Whether we go with Weathershield, Marvin or another line we will have wood interior so that even though the windows are made of fiberglass, they match the rest of the wood interior / trim of the house.
2. Appliances - We have been around in circles on the configuration / style of the appliances quite a few times now. I think we've finally decided that we want to have a 36" pro-style rangetop with six burners with a wall oven & convection / microwave combination unit. We are leaning towards a french door fridge. We have looked at lots of different brands / price points and are leaning toward either GE Monogram or Kitchenaid Pro. We need to finalize this pretty quickly so we can incorporate these dimensions into our cabinet design & plan.
Until the permit is complete, we can't really get started on too much but we can keep shopping & picking out finishes, plumbing fixtures & lighting fixtures. We found a really cool website that we think has some good options for our outdoor lighting : www.barnlightelectric.com
